Today I am posting some more photos from our trip to California. There are times when you are a photographer when the light is amazing and the scenery is gorgeous but you are driving 70 miles and hour down the highway. During those times I just can’t stop taking photographs, so I point the camera out of the window, compose, and shoot. Thats what these images are. I can’t say I found this spot and waited for the right moment, these photograph’s found me so to speak.

These photos were taken a couple hours south of San Francisco. This area was absolutely beautiful.

Enjoy!

So back in September while shooting Megan and Kyle’s wedding, April, her sister Bethany, and I were able to travel throughout California seeing as much as we could. During this time, I think I found one of my most favorite cities in the US, San Francisco. I loved everything about that city and would love to live in the area. This is simply one image from our time in the city, a cable car. We did get to ride the cable car! I will slowly but surely be posting more work from California, as well as personal work I have shot through out the years.
This was shot on my Fuji GF670 and Kodak Portra 400.

Enjoy!

Meet Matt and Marcie. They are such a sweet southern couple. They came all the way from North Carolina to get married close to Marcie’s family in Illinois. When Marcie first contacted me, it was a sweet southern accent on the other side of the phone and she said she loved photography and wanted someone who could make art. Immediately I knew I had to shoot this wedding. We shot their engagement session in Chicago. And for me anyways, it was just like hanging out with two old friends. Shooting all over the city and eating Chicago Style Pizza.

Their wedding day was beautiful and they were surrounded by family even sweeter than them! Needless to say, I have new friends now. I love that about wedding photography. I get to meet people who are in love and share that with me. I couldn’t ask for a better job.

Enjoy!

It looks as if I am continuing with the kids this week. This little guy is Emmitt, he is April and I’s good friends newborn. Corey and Melissa (the parent’s) have two beautiful kids that I get to photograph on a regular basis. Emmitt is such a cutie and man is it nice when newborns sleep through EVERYTHING!

For the photographers out there, this was shot with my Nikon D700 and a 35mm 1.4G, 50mm 1.4G, 85mm 1.4D. They were edited using the new VSCO presets for lightroom.

Enjoy!

Man, it has been far to long since I have lost posted anything. The holidays have come and gone since I last updated this blog. I hope to change that this winter. I have lots of stuff I need to blog, but just haven’t had the time  to actually do it. From designing albums and fulfilling holiday print orders to just spending time with loved ones it has been one heck of a winter!

I have spent the last week or two updating my wedding galleries and will be updating my engagement galleries and adding a personal work section soon! So be on the look out for that.

The photos above are of my nephews, Logan and Liam. I don’t have kids myself, but I think for me it is safe to say I didn’t know how possible it was to love two little kids like I do with these little guys. Logan is such a smart boy and has such a personality. Liam has come along way since his heart surgery and cochlear implant. He is healthier than ever and loves to eat! These were taken on Christmas Eve with my new Mamiya RZ Pro on Fuji Instant Film. If you are interested in doing a session that looks entirely like the photos above please send me an email!

Enjoy!

  1. I love these, they are amazing!

  2. Mike says:

These are awesome bro, loving that RZ polaroid back combo.

  3. mom says:

of course I love these, where is mine

  4. iFloyd says:

great job! just been inspired to use my polaroid!

  5. Barry Phipps says:

Wow. These are great. Aside from the great expression and personalities you’ve captured, the look of these are amazing. Sharp, shallow depth of field and broad tonality. Hope you do more of this in 2012.

Megan and Kyle’s wedding was originally suppose to be held in Frankfort, Illinois. However, one day Megan called me up and asked me if I would be willing to fly to Palm Springs to photograph their wedding…Heck yea! So in September I found myself flying across the country to document such a beautiful and amazing event. The whole weekend centered around the beautiful Villa Carmelita, a gorgeous villa, that once belonged to Sonny and Cher.

Megan and Kyle had a huge turnout for a wedding that was held thousands of miles away from home. The weekend was filled with pool parties, family, and amazing weather. The wedding was held outside on the front lawn of the property under a huge tree. Megan, Kyle, and I were able to sneak away for photos around Palm Springs. The whole day, I could see why Megan was marrying Kyle. They both looked at each other with so much love. I walked away from this wedding, realizing how incredibly lucky I am to not only witness, but to document events like this for people who are truly in love.

Enjoy!

What can I say about these two that you can’t see in the photos? Seriously after spending an hour on the phone with Nate and meet Katie for the first time at their engagement session, these two are so genuine. They came to me about a month before their actual wedding and I am so glad that everything worked out. Their wedding took place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We had such a beautiful day. We spent a good portion of it walking through downtown. I had such an amazing time becoming friends with these two!

The reception took place at the amazing Hinterland restaurant.

So I am really behind and I just had to post their wedding first so stay tuned for Katie and Nate’s engagement session coming this Friday.

Enjoy!

Shot on a Contax 645, Kodak Portra 400, Kodak Tri-X and a Canon 5D Mark II.

It is always so much fun to photograph people you have known for years! I have known Jenny since junior high and Chad since high school. It is crazy to me that they are married. Jenny and another friend Paige grew up always coming to the door and trying to get me to come hang out. It was and always is an honor to be asked to photograph people I have grown up with.

Enjoy!

Wow so what do I say about this wedding. I should start by saying that Anna and Mike are some of the sweetest people I know. Throughout the whole planning process and through the wedding they were so wonderful and fun to work with. The wedding itself was such a beautiful day. There was a lot of hard work that was put into the wedding and Jen from imoni Events, did such an amazing job. From a Rolls Royce, to Anna’s parent’s beautiful house, to the Rockford Country Club the day was perfect. The one sad thing about leaving a wedding at the end of the night is saying good bye to my clients who are always so generous, fun and amazing to work for. Congrats to Anna and Mike!

Enjoy!
